Czech Wheelchair Floorball Federation has again sent the national team to an exhibition match to accompany an IFF event. The visit rate record from the very first exhibition held at O2 Arena during final of the Men's World Championship 2008 will probably not be topped any time soon. Then, a Czech-Swedish mini-match was played in front of over 14 000 spectators.
Wheelchair Floorball is played almost with the same rules as Floorball. Floorball, a type of floor hockey, is an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s. It is a fast paced sport, with limited physical contact allowed. Floorball is most popular in areas where the sport has developed the longest, such as the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland. The game is played indoors on a gym floor, making it a year-round sport at the amateur and professional levels. There are professional leagues, such as Finland's Salibandyliiga and Sweden's Svenska Superligan. While there are 49 members of the International Floorball Federation (IFF), the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland have finished in most of the coveted 1st, 2nd and 3rd places at the Floorball World Championships. In addition to those four countries, floorball is gaining popularity in countries such as Australia, Canada, Japan, Singapore, and the United States.
Floorball is a beautiful, technical and above all a team game. Floorball is a lifestyle! It is the game for all ages and movement restrictions. Floorball is the second fastest growing sport on Earth, soon will be included in floorball program of the Olympic Games and why they should miss the Paralympics?
International Paralympic Committee has very strict criteria, but the most important points is the duplicity of the sport, the greates similarity of non-handicapped. As happens in basketball and wheelchair basketball. I think the line that gave the sport is good.
Wheelchair floorball develops very rapidly in the Slovak republic. First international exhibition match will play Slovak againts Czech republic on 28.5. in Topolčany. In the cooperation with the Czech Wheelchair Floorball Federation Slovaks will seek the estabilishment by several teams and a number of possible cooperatiion in the coming events, leagues and national teams preparing. It is a further shift for international development of wheelchair floorball. We belive that this arrangement will see the European Championship in 2012 with the participation of eight european teams.
